Humanity at a Crossroad A Journey from Self-Reliance to the Father’s Heart

Humanity does not arrive at one crossroads. We live at a crossroads — in the quiet decisions, responses, fears, acts of faith, and moments of surrender that shape a life.

Jeremiah 17:5–8 Trust · Relationship · Transformation Published August 2026
Cover of Humanity at a Crossroad: a man stands where a dirt road divides, one path barren beneath a dark sky, the other green beneath a rising sun.

Every day we stand at crossroads we may never see. Every decision, every response, every act of faith moves us — however slightly — toward self-reliance or toward deeper trust in the Father.

It is no coincidence you are reading this … or that you continue to draw breath from the One who gave you life. You are known, and your life has purpose.

The question is not whether we will choose a road. The question is: where is our trust leading us?

The two trees and two ways of Jeremiah 17:5–8

The Invitation

From self-reliance to the Father’s heart

The God who created us desires more than our knowledge about Him. He invites us into a real and personal relationship with Him — today, just as we are. His love is not something we earn. It is a gift, freely offered.

Humanity at a Crossroad is not a formula for becoming a better Christian. It is an invitation to discover why the Father is worthy of our trust, and to recognize the quiet crossroads through which a life is shaped.

Drawing from Scripture, life experience, and more than four decades of prayer, reflection, and walking with God, the book follows a journey from knowing about God to knowing Him personally — through trust, surrender, faith, reconciliation, the indwelling life of Christ, and the Father’s heart.

Come and discover the Father whose love has never ceased to pursue His children.

The Journey

From the human heart to the Father’s heart

Nine themes recur throughout the book. They are not boxes to check, but dimensions of one journey: learning to trust the Father and allowing His life to be expressed through ours.

The Human Heart

An honest look at what actually governs our decisions, beneath the answers we give in public.

The Danger of Self-Reliance

Why the instinct to manage our own lives is so reasonable, so respected, and so costly.

Knowing Him

The distance between knowing about God and knowing God — and how it gets closed.

The Cross

What was settled there, and what it means for a person still carrying the weight of their own record.

The Holy Spirit

The life of God at work in an ordinary person, and what changes when that work is welcomed.

Faith & Obedience

Walking by faith when the road is unlit — and why obedience is a response, not a fee.

Sonship

Moving from the posture of a servant earning approval to that of a son who already has it.

Reconciliation

God’s eternal desire to restore humanity to Himself, and how that reshapes how we see other people.

Transformation

What it looks like when His life is expressed through ours — slowly, and in daily things.

Wherever You Are on the Road

The invitation begins where you are

The long-time believer

Faithful for years, familiar with every answer, and quietly aware that familiarity is not the same as intimacy.

The self-made person

Competent, capable, used to solving it. This book asks what that competence has cost.

The one in the hard season

Where self-reliance has run out of road and the question of trust is no longer theoretical.

Anyone still searching

No matter your station in life, your religion, or how ragged your past has been.

The Story Behind the Book

For most of my life, I never intended to write a book.

I was trained as a financial engineer and spent much of my professional life in the world of business, finance, institutions, and complex problems. I learned to analyze, calculate, plan, structure, and solve.

But behind that professional life, another journey was taking place.

For more than four decades, God was patiently teaching me something far more difficult than anything I had encountered in business:

how to trust Him.

It was not a journey I would have designed for myself.

There were seasons of extraordinary joy and seasons I did not understand. There were prayers that seemed to be answered and others that appeared to disappear into silence. There were moments when the path ahead seemed clear and others when God seemed to place a blindfold over my eyes and ask me simply to take the next step.

Little by little, one question began to emerge beneath almost everything:

Do I truly trust God—or do I ultimately trust myself?

For years, I thought these experiences were individual lessons. Only much later did I begin to see that they belonged together.

They were one journey.

A journey from self-reliance to the Father’s heart.

Humanity at a Crossroad grew out of that journey.

I did not write it because I had finally discovered all the answers. I wrote it because, after forty-seven years, I had discovered something far more important:

The God who holds the blindfold is infinitely trustworthy.

This book grew out of that discovery.

My hope is not that readers finish these pages knowing more about me.

My prayer is that somehow, through them, they come to know the Father a little better.

From the Journey

A glimpse from the closing pages

We arrived with our own hopes, plans, and ideas for family, retirement, business, and ministry. We heard the call to leave everything and follow Jesus Christ. We had counted the cost, and like Isaiah, we responded, “Send Me.” Many did not understand our decision, and even we did not know where or how the Lord would lead in the years to come.

It has not always been easy, but through it all, we have learned that it is an awesome adventure to follow Jesus. We don’t often see His purpose right away, but we wait on Him for the next step. Our story is not unique. It is also the story of all those who put their trust in God.

Questions Along the Way

A few places to begin

What does “Humanity at a Crossroad” mean?

The cover shows one crossroads, but a human life contains thousands. Every day, often without noticing it, we make choices about where we will place our trust. The book asks whether those choices are moving us deeper into self-reliance or toward the Father’s heart.

What is the difference between knowing about God and knowing God?

Information can tell us what someone has said about God. Relationship is different. The book explores the invitation to know Him personally — to learn His character, recognize His voice, trust His heart, and allow His life to shape ours.

Do I need to be a Christian to read it?

No. The invitation is for anyone searching for answers, whatever their religion, background, or past. The book is written in plain language and asks the reader to consider the possibility that the Christian life is, at its heart, an invitation into relationship with the Father.

What if I have been hurt or disappointed by the Church?

The book does not ask you to ignore those experiences or defend religious institutions. Its focus is more personal: the character of God, the heart of the Father, and whether He Himself can be trusted.

Can we walk through the book as a group?

Yes. The recurring themes lend themselves naturally to discussion, prayer, and reflection. A group study outline is planned, and churches or small groups may enquire below.

Is there an audiobook?

Not yet. Audio reflections and selected readings are planned, and an audiobook edition is being explored.

How can I read the book?

The published English edition is available on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover. Links are provided below.

How do I contact the author?

It is obviously not possible for the author to personally address all questions and inquiries. However, for interview requests, church and press inquiries, licensing rights for foreign publishing, or for translation interest, please send email to [email protected]

A Private Conversation

Ask a question about the book

A book can begin a conversation, but it cannot anticipate every question. If something in Humanity at a Crossroad has raised a question that the book did not fully address, you are invited to ask it here.

What kind of questions belong here?

Questions are welcomed when they:

  • concern the content or themes of the book;
  • raise a specific issue the book may not have addressed;
  • seek clarification of something written in the book; or
  • ask for additional direction related to the journey described in these pages.

Your privacy

Your question will be treated as confidential. It will not be posted publicly with your name, email address, or other identifying information.

Every question submitted will be reviewed and answered. From time to time, a question that may help many other readers may be selected for publication on this website together with its answer. When that happens, the question will be edited as necessary to remove names and identifying details before it is made public.

The purpose is not to create a public forum. It is to allow a private question to become, when appropriate, a source of help to others.

Questions are not displayed automatically. Nothing you submit through this form will appear publicly on the website. Any question chosen for public display will first be reviewed and anonymized.

Selected Questions & Answers

Questions that may help another traveler

Most questions will remain entirely private. Occasionally, however, a question raises something many readers may be wondering. Selected questions may therefore be published here with their answers — always without the reader's name, email address, or identifying details.

No reader questions have been published yet.

When selected questions are added, they will appear here only after review and anonymization. This section will never display a live or automatic feed of private submissions.

Languages

The message should not remain in one language

The long-term hope is to make Humanity at a Crossroad available to readers in as many languages as possible while preserving the heart — not merely the vocabulary — of the message.

Translation with stewardship

Each edition should preserve the distinctions that matter throughout the book: knowing about God and knowing Him, self-reliance and trust, religion and relationship, surrender and the Father’s heart.

Translations are ahead

The English edition is the beginning. Future language editions will be added here as they are completed and reviewed.

If you are a native-language translator, editor, ministry leader, or reader who may be able to help carry the message faithfully into another language, you are welcome to get in touch. Please send email to [email protected] and indicate “Translation Interest” in the heading.
